With the Industrial Revolution, people pursued material wealth, giving rise to capitalism. Fascination with money pushed spirituality aside, and it slowly collapsed. Those who abandoned it destroyed what remained. I hope for a peaceful world where material and spirituality exist in balance.
Artist Statement:
I worked for a company for many years, like a horse, but realized I wasn’t meant to be an office worker, so I began drawing. “Torch” in Japanese is TAIMATSU, a sacred symbol since ancient times. Through my art, I hope to warm people when it’s cold and light their way in the dark.
