\u201eA monster can be an animal that we have transformed into a new creature through our technology.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We love dogs, we love our smartphone and we love being in control. “good boy” stands as an example for all our desires, moral concerns are overshadowed by the possibilities of technological progress. Staying with dogs, small chips under the fur of pets are already commonplace these days. There are already attempts to implant Neuralink chips in brains. Technological development, as we know, cannot be turned back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation “good boy” throws up the question: “How far are we allowed to interfere in creation, and at what point do we create forms of life that evolve into monsters that turn against us and our planet?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Laws of Robotics” established by the biochemist and science fiction writer Isaac Asimov provide the basis for this question. The fact that we have already started shifting the boundaries is highlighted in this work by replacing the word “robot” with the word “dog” \u2013 the legality is retained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation is made up of two parts, firstly a dog skeleton covered in gold leaf, whose skull physiognomy has been altered in such a way that a display could be integrated. This part is meant to render the individual vividly perceptible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second part is brought to life through AR technology. This gives the viewer the opportunity to interact with the virtual dog. All the usual dog commands here have been replaced by multimedia orders in order to objectify the individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monsters mostly originate in our minds. In our thoughts, we fear the unknown and anything that challen-ges our established thought patterns. We live in times where our traditional gender roles are disintegra-ting. The emancipation of women is continuously evolving, going beyond mere legal equality and bringing about a profound cultural and structural change throughout society.
The Bible is full of stories that have been changed and rewritten over the last few centuries. First and foremost, it was men who had the authority to interpret the writings of the Holy Catholic Church.
\u201cit\u2019s a girl\u201d plays with the idea that everything could have been completely different. The obvious fact that the child of God is depicted as female makes the contradiction between Christian teaching and the gender role of women in enlightened times visible. This ancient view of the theological story of Jesus\u2019 birth is also visually broken by the display inside. The boundaries between imagination and memory are blurring. This reinterpretation may be a monstrous idea for many people, while it can empower others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work shows a portrait of the Virgin Mary in the classic neo-Gothic style. Unlike historical depictions, the index finger placed on the mouth suggests to us that we want to reveal a secret to the Virgin Mary. An animated ultrasound image plays on a small screen in the abdominal cavity. The monitor shows a female embryo, and the words “it’s a girl” are written on the abdominal opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist Statement:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My work focuses on the interaction of digital processes and the analysis of reality and consciousness. I want to uncover the contradictions in the reality of my life and question habits. Although serious and existential aspects permeate my work, I seek a playful approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My art consists of creating objects that tell stories, whether through digital animations or mechanical movements. Many of my works are interactive installations that invite the viewer to actively participate.Through this type of discussion, existing perspectives and ideas are correlated with the content of my work. From a stylistic point of view, my art combines computer-generatedimagery with old analog objects. These real objects function as an interface between fiction and reality and possess a symbolic value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
