Since graduating with a Master degree from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in 2010, she has exhibited large-scale works themed on the female body in numerous solo and group exhibitions at renowned galleries in Germany and overseas. In 2028 her first museum show will be presented at the Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum.
Egle Otto’s practice exists in the dynamic space between abstraction and figuration, with a keen focus on the materiality of paint. To evoke an emotional resonance and activate the limbic system, Otto relies on strong colors and dynamic compositions. In this way, she crafts a sensual potpourri of forms that invites dialog and encourages the viewer to contribute their own experiences and interpretations. The resulting textures are richly layered, occasionally evoking fragments of textile-like surfaces.
Otto explicitly references mythological imagery that has shaped ideas of femininity, morality, and identity over centuries. From this process, pictorial worlds emerge that challenge deeply ingrained societal value systems, desires, and modes of representation.

Deutsch:
Egle Otto ist eine deutsch-litauische Künstlerin mit Arbeitsorten in Berlin und Hamburg.
